ARTIST'S RETREAT - INSPIRATION FOR THE SOUL

The creation of a weekend shelter for the artist Willie Bester, was our 2nd challenge as a 3rd year ND: architectural technology student. It is to be a small rural weekend retreat to regenerate his spirit and renew his creative thoughts and output.

The artist is regarded as one of South Africa's most impotant resistance artists, he incorporates recycled material into his paintings assemblages and sculpture, usually commenting on political in justices and human right issues of the day. He lives with his wife and kids in a home situated in a quiet Cape town suburb of kuilsrivier and stands as a beacon to his uncensored atristic expression.
